Road closures and temporary suspension of Residents’ Parking Schemes

Residents’ parking schemes close to Ilkeston town centre will be temporarily suspended during the week of the historic Charter Fair – a move which is taken every year in an effort to free-up car parking space.

The schemes will be suspended from Monday 17th October to Saturday 22nd October – resuming on Monday 24th October.

Several town centre car parks are always closed throughout the Charter Fair week to make way for rides, stalls and fair vehicles.

Streets belonging to the two parking schemes are as follows:

St Mary Street Area:

Burns Street

Fullwood Street

Gregory Street

Jackson Avenue

New Lawn Road

St Mary Street

Wilmot Street

Along with the suspension of the schemes, the following roads will be closed from 5.00am on Tuesday 18th October until midday on Sunday 23rd October.

South Street (From Derby Road)

Queen Street (From Albert Street)

Wharncliffe Road (From Albert Street)

Bath Street (From Wilmot Street)

Albert Street

Queens Drive

Lissett Avenue

Moss Road

• White Line Square (on the roundabout opposite Entrance to fair)
• B&M (largest) near Albion Centre access via Chalons way (dual carrigway) and Station Road
• Lower Warncliffe Road and Lord Haddon Road and side streets access via Oakwell drive, King George Albert Stree (off derby Road);
• Co-Op Car Park, although closed can be accessd via Albert Street, main access is via lower Queen Street;
